People’s Daily, Beijing, June 20th (Reporter Wang Zheng) According to the latest statistics of China Automobile Industry Association, by the end of May 2021, there were about 5.8 million new energy vehicles in China, accounting for about 50% of the total new energy vehicles in the world. From January to May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China were 967,000 and 950,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 2.2 times, and the market penetration rate reached 8.7%, with a strong growth momentum.
After more than 10 years of development, the upstream and downstream of China’s new energy vehicle industry chain have been effectively connected, and the core technologies such as batteries, motors and electronic controls have basically been self-controllable, and the overall development level of the industry is at the forefront of the world.
At the same time, the supporting environment of new energy vehicles is becoming more and more perfect. As of April, 65,000 charging stations and 644 power stations have been built nationwide, and 1.87 million charging piles of various types have been built, and a fast charging network covering 176 cities and over 50,000 kilometers has been built.
According to the introduction of China Automobile Industry Association, despite the impact of COVID-19 epidemic, China’s automobile market remains stable. In 2020, the decline in production and sales will be less than 2%, and the proportion of automobile production in the world will reach 32.5%, a record high. The stability of China’s automobile market has provided good business support for global automobile enterprises.
It is predicted that in the next five to eight years, a large number of in-use vehicles with national standard IV or below will gradually face elimination and replacement, which will bring greater development space to the new energy vehicle market. The growth rate of production and sales of electric vehicles is expected to remain above 40% in the next five years.
