BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua)-The Russian presidential election will be held on March 2. At present, the preparations for voting are ready. According to CCTV, the latest opinion polls show that the support rate of Medvedev, who is strongly supported by President Putin, has exceeded 70%, while the support rate of zyuganov and zhirinovsky is around 10%, and the support rate of Democratic leader bogdanov is only around 1%.


  Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Medvedev, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party zyuganov, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party zhirinovsky and Democratic Party leader bogdanov will compete for the next presidency.


  Russia’s territory spans 11 time zones, and the voting time for the general election is scheduled to be from 8: 00 am to 8: 00 pm local time in each region. The earliest voting started in Kamchatka, Russia, and the latest voting started in Kaliningrad, Russia.


  The Russian Central Election Commission will announce the results of the vote counting every hour during the voting process, and the final official results will be announced on March 7. In order to facilitate media coverage of this election, on February 29th, the International Press Center for the Presidential Election under the Central Election Commission was officially opened to the news media.


  In this election, more than 96,000 polling stations were set up in Russia, with about 108 million registered voters. Polling stations in polar regions and some remote areas have begun to vote in advance since February 12, and by February 27, a total of 77 thousand voters had voted.
