On July 26th, the much-watched Meizu Pro7 was officially released in Zhuhai, along with Meizu Pro7 Plus. Meizu Pro7 is equipped with MediaTek X30 processor, 4GB memory (Pro7 Plus is 6GB), 5.2-inch 1080P screen (Pro7 Plus is 5.7-inch 2K resolution), 1.9-inch sub-screen, rear 12 million pixel dual camera, front 16 million pixels, supports mCharge flash charging, and runs Flyme 6 system based on Android 7.0. And what kind of highlights does this flagship machine that has been polished for half a year have? You will understand after reading this review.

The back is no longer the same design.

Recently, I have heard that many people are nostalgic for the era of feature phones. Because at that time, the design of mobile phones was rich and diverse, including three design forms: straight plate, flip cover, and slide cover. But with the development of smart phones today, the phenomenon of homogenization of appearance is simply unbearable. Covering the logo on the back of the fuselage, you can hardly guess which product the phone is. However, when you get the Meizu Pro7, you will find that you have really never seen this design.

If you want to change, you have to talk about the back of the Meizu Pro7. This time it is no longer the same. The Meizu Pro7 brings a new industrial design and innovatively adds a secondary screen, which Meizu officially calls the picture screen. Unlike the previous ink screen, the 1.9-inch secondary screen uses an AMOLED screen, which can realize various functions such as weather, step counting, notification/status reminders, selfie, screenshot, hibernation MPS, and is supplemented by animation. The following three functions are most suitable in the experience.

When the screen is on, users can use the "swipe up" or "swipe down" gesture to activate the sub-screen camera to realize the rear dual-camera selfie. In this way, wouldn’t it be possible to use three cameras for selfies, which is simply beyond four shots!

There is a "gesture wake-up" switch on the main screen. Turning off the gesture wake-up will not affect the effect of long pressing the main screen gesture. Settings-sub, turn on two-finger screenshots in the screen, and you can turn on the main and secondary screenshots function. When the main screen is on, take a screenshot of the main screen, and when the main screen is off, take a screenshot of the secondary screen.

Press the power button for a long time, select "Sleep MP3", the phone will enter the "Sleep MP3" mode, the phone can only play music, the rest of the functions will be turned off, and the secondary screen will display the music playback details, the phone incarnates as MP3, which is a good function design for most people. We live in a busy social life every day, and what is missing is to put down the phone and enjoy music quietly for a period of time.

  Specific interaction gesture description:

Flip and raise your wrist: light up the wake-up secondary screen

Double-click: When the screen is on, turn off the secondary screen; when the secondary screen is closed, wake up the secondary screen

  Three Strikes: Trigger Easter Eggs

Up/down: On screen, swipe up to enter the camera, swipe down to exit the camera

Swipe left and right: Swipe left and right to switch different secondary screen pages, such as switching badges, pedometers, weather

Pinch the screen with two fingers: Pinch the front and rear screens with two fingers at the same time, which can trigger screenshots.

Long press: Long press on the badge page to enter the badge settings page.

Automatic extinguish: 15s without any operation, automatically extinguish

Meizu is cooperating with third-party software developers to implement more functions on the secondary screen for the adaptation of third-party software in the picture screen and the development of unique functions. It is reported that Meizu has proposed to develop a function of grabbing red envelopes on the secondary screen, which can be quickly grabbed through the main screen. Users who do not use Meizu Pro7 may cry after listening.

  Outstanding details, more business-like appearance

In terms of overall appearance, the Meizu Pro7 still uses an all-metal body design. Compared with the previous generation Pro 6s, the corners are tougher. At the same time, a new metal drawing process has been added to some of the back covers, making the business atmosphere more intense.

In the specific color scheme, there are four kinds of quiet black/champagne gold/titian red/bright shadow black, among which the bright shadow black is the design of brushed luster, which is particularly noble.

In terms of screen, the Meizu Pro7 uses the same Samsung Super AMOLED screen as the previous generation, with a 5.2-inch, 1080P resolution, and the screen display is as good as ever. The Pro7 plus screen uses a 5.7-inch 2K resolution, and the display effect is more delicate. However, the 3D Press function has been removed from the Meizu Pro7 series, but it is not surprising that this function has not been used by most users for hundreds of years.

In terms of details, the Meizu Pro7 has also achieved the ultimate, with the front sensor and the handset integrated into one, making it more coordinated. Compared with the previous generation, the front-facing camera has also been moved to the right end of the handset.

This may be the best black and white color dual camera currently available

On the rear dual camera, the Meizu PRO7 adopts the "black and white + color" dual camera solution, the color camera is responsible for capturing the color, and the black and white camera retains more details while greatly improving the amount of light entering. The dual 12 million Sony IMX386 sensor, the aperture of F2.0, is the same as that on the Pro6S, supports autofocus, background blurring, extreme black and white and other functions. The reason for using the black and white and color dual camera solution is estimated to make better use of the rear dual camera combined with the sub screen for selfies, otherwise using the zoom dual camera for selfies, wouldn’t it be to reach out to the sky.

At the same time, in the increasingly popular algorithm blur technology, Meizu selects a variety of scenes for Pro7 to optimize and adjust, making the blur effect of Pro 7 more natural and realistic.

When the main body of the bicycle with complex structure is blurred in the figure below, there is almost no smearing phenomenon, and the blurring effect is more real. And the outside of the focus is also very good-looking, and the light spot effect is obvious.

It is more obvious when the portrait is blurred, and the edge of the hair is quite clear.

The picture below is a sample of taking a selfie using the rear dual camera. It can be seen that the effect is very good, with a sharpness almost comparable to the SLR effect, and a good blurring effect.

At the same time, in terms of color adjustment, the Meizu Pro 7 is also very good, with almost no color cast, and it will make reasonable adjustments to some colors, such as making the blue sky look better. At the same time, the Meizu Pro 7 is also equipped with a multi-frame noise reduction algorithm, so that in the extreme dark light environment, the picture is still clean and thorough, and there will be no serious smearing effect.

Unlike the post-effects brought by black and white filters, the black and white images presented by the PRO 7’s built-in black and white camera can retain more detail and a more layered sense.

At the same time, the front-facing camera has been greatly changed, from the original 5 million pixels directly to 16 million pixels, and at the same time, the pixel four-in-one algorithm is turned on, and the photosensitive performance is doubled. For many girls, it is really possible to no longer use Meitu Xiuxiu.

How does the MediaTek X30 perform?

Meizu PRO 7 high-end version and Pro 7plus are equipped with MediaTek X30 ten-core processor, a new 10nm process, currently only three 10nm chips in the world, namely Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Samsung Exynos 8895, and MediaTek X30.

Compared with the previous generation, the processing performance is increased by 40%, the graphics performance is increased by 240%, and the power consumption is reduced by 60%. The PRO 7 standard version is equipped with MediaTek P25 processor. The Pro 7 in the hands of the editor is a high-end version. During use, even with the new version of the system, the Meizu Pro 7 did not appear card phenomenon, and the running score of Anan Rabbit reached 118278, which performed quite well. At the same time, the X30 also supports the high frame rate mode of Honor of Kings, which is stable at about 60 frames.

In terms of memory, Meizu Pro 7 comes standard with LPDDR4X random access memory. Meizu PRO 7 is 4GB, PRO 7 Plus is 6GB, and there are 64GB and 128GB storage options. However, in this era of excess mobile phone performance, 4GB is actually enough.

  System and battery life

Meizu Pro 7 runs Flyme 6 based on Android 7.0. Compared with the previous generation, the UI has not changed much, but the corners are more rounded, and the picture fluency has been greatly improved.

Flyme6 is still easy to use, reflected in many intimate features, such as game mode, parallel space, children’s space, notification management, contact time machine, client side Recycling Bin and other unique features.

In terms of battery life, the PRO7 is equipped with a 3000mAh capacity battery, which supports 8V/3A fast charging power, and can be fully charged by 50% in half an hour. The PRO7 Plus is equipped with a 3500mAh capacity battery and 5V/5A fast charging, which can be fully charged by 50% in 20 minutes. In actual tests, it takes less than 1 hour to fully charge 100% of the battery. The performance is quite good, but it is a pity that it is not equipped with the 5V10A Super mCharge fast charging technology on this year’s MWC.

Overall, the Meizu Pro7, which has been polished for half a year, has brought a lot of innovation in design. Although it is not perfect in some details, it can be regarded as a future mobile phone. The design of the secondary screen and the current full screen have jointly opened up two new development paths in today’s homogeneous mobile phones. We will wait and see which one is better to use.
